Hickey
Matt serves the Development Council as a specialist who prepares
grant proposals for submittal to funding organizations such as:
foundations, government agencies and for-profit corporations. In
that capacity, he has secured over $5million in grants to the Development
Council from 1999-2003. The grants have supported workforce development,
business technology, infrastructure development, small business
development, Brownfield assessments, revolving loan programs and
international trade consultation.
Matt retired in 1999 after 33 years as an educational administrator.
He previously was employed by the School District of Philadelphia,
Springfield Township Schools, the University of Pennsylvania, Montgomery
County Intermediate Unit, Penn State University and Chester County
Intermediate Unit – all in Pennsylvania.
Matt has masters degrees from St. Joseph’s University, the
University of Pennsylvania (Educational Administration) and the
University of Pennsylvania (Veterinary Science). He received his
BS degree in Biology from St. John’s University. He also studied
Nuclear Science at Penn State University and Educational Management
at Immaculata University. Matt and his wife Mary Breslin reside
in Unionville, East Marlborough Township.
An amateur sailor and avid numismatist, Matt volunteers in his
spare time with the Men of Chester County Hospital.
